1.0 - Logging a Profile

How do I create my profile?

Start by going to JewishCafe.com and then click on "free trial". Read through each page and follow any instructions. Click on the link at the bottom of each page to proceed to the next page.

On the first page you will be asked for:

1) Your location: so that other Cafe members can be matched with you.

2) Your email address: This is where we will send your password and login instructions when you complete your profile. Your email address will be kept confidential. We do not sell your email address or place you on any outside mailing lists.

3) To choose a Username: we will assign you a UNIQUE username (when you have finished the questionnaire) based on the one you provide (e.g. If you select the name "happy", our system might assign you "happy251" once you complete your profile).

4) How you found JewishCafe.com:

  • If you were referred by another Cafe member, please type his/her username in the white box below "Member who referred you". This is a name plus 3 digits (e.g. "sunshine239").
  • If you were NOT referred by another Cafe member, that's okay! Please let us know how you found the Cafe by choosing an option from the drop down menu under the question "How did you hear about us" (ie. Search Engine, E-mail Newsletter, Banner/Text Ad or Other).
  • If you heard about the Cafe due to an event you attended or a promotion, please click here and then enter the exact code you received at the event in the box provided. You may also be required to fill in the rest of the page again.

On the second page you will be asked to confirm your entries. Please make sure your email address is correctly listed.

On the third page you will see the Multiple Choice section of the questionnaire. You must complete every multiple choice question (select one option from each drop down menu).

In the written answer section, which follows the multiple choice questions, you can write as much or as little as you wish for each of the written answers.

You will have created your account when you reach the screen which says Account Created!

I have already created a profile but I can't get into my account!

If you have already created a profile your username and password will have been sent to your e-mail address. If you have forgoten your password, click here. If the e-mail address you provided was incorrect please send an email, with your name, birthday, city, state/province, zip/postal code, country, and JewishCafe.com username to helpme@jewishcafe.com

If you have retrieved your username and password from your e-mail but the system will not accept your login, please ensure that there are no spaces appended to either your username or password when attempting to login.

Note: Your username will be the one you chose when you logged your profile plus 3 extra numbers.

Your password is not just numbers. It is your username plus 1, 2, or 3 extra numbers.

For example, if your username is "sarah223", your password might be "sarah223456". It will NOT be just "456", or even "123456".

Try logging in again

How do I save my password when logging in?

(In order to log into our site you must already have an active profile.
If you have created an account already and need your login information please see http://www.jewishcafe.com/guests/tools/request_password.jsp
If you have not yet created an account please click here to start.)

When you go to http://www.jewishcafe.com you can enter your username and your password on the right side. Place a checkmark in the box to the right of where it says Remember Me! Your login information should be saved for future logins.

>>> If you delete your cookies at any point, you may need to re-enter your username and password. Your internet browser may allow you to save the information though: if you go to the username box, and hit your DOWN ARROW key you might see your username, saved from a previous login. Click on it and your password may automatically be retrieved for you :-)

Please note that you must have your COOKIES TURNED ON in your internet browser in order to have your login saved. Here are some instructions which may help you ensure you have cookies turned on.

1) If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, please click on TOOLS (at the very top of your page, next to FAVORITES).
Then select INTERNET OPTIONS.
A new window will appear.
Click on the PRIVACY tab at the top and ensure your setting bar is set to Medium.
Then click OK to close that window.
You should then be able to log into our site and have your password remembered.

2) If you are using Netscape, please click on EDIT (at the very top of your page, next to FILE).
Then select PREFERENCES.
A new window will appear.
On the left side of the window, click on the arrow to the left of PRIVACY & SECURITY
Click on COOKIES
Under Cookie Acceptance Policy, ensure you have either Allow all cookies selected or Allow cookies based on privacy setting. Your privacy setting should be at medium.
Also ensure you have selected Accept cookies normally under Cookie Lifetime Policy.
Then click OK to close that window.
You should then be able to log into our site and have your password remembered.

3) If you are using Firefox, please click on TOOLS (at the very top of your page, next to BOOKMARKS).
Then select OPTIONS.
A new window will appear.
Click on PRIVACY
Click on the + sign to the left of COOKIES and ensure you have selected Allow sites to set cookies
Then click OK to close that window.
You should then be able to log into our site and have your password remembered.

How do I remove my profile?

There are two possibilities for removing your profile from the Cafe:

1) Have your profile deleted, that is, permanently removed.
2) Have your profile archived. This means your account will be "put to sleep" so to speak but it can be retrieved at a later date. No one will see your account and you won't be able to use it until you write and ask us to reactivate it. All mail and favorites list entries will be deleted from your account and all mail you've sent to others or they've sent you to you will be deleted from their mailboxes too.
